A Better Dental Experience With Sedation Dentistry [FAQ]

Dental Anxiety 1 South Elgin, IL | Brar Dentistry

Greetings, from our team at Brar Dentistry!

We love answering your frequently asked questions on our blog! Today’s question is one that we hear all the time from first time patients.

It has to do with one of our most effective ways to help patients overcome dental anxiety in our Chicago area dental offices. We’re answering a common question we get about our options in sedation dentistry. We hope that today’s blog helps give you hope that like so many of our patients, you too can let go of dental anxiety and reclaim your healthy, beautiful smile!

Q: How do I know which sedation option is right for me?

First, we offer three forms of sedation:

-Nitrous Oxide (or laughing gas)

-Oral Sedation

-IV Sedation

Every patient comes to us with different needs. The sedation method you choose will depend on how you answer two main questions:

  • What is your level of anxiety?
  • What does your treatment plan involve?

You might come to us after years of staying away from the dentist and, as a result, need extensive restorative dental care. If you’re highly anxious and have a complicated treatment plan, IV sedation may be the most appropriate choice.

But suppose you get through that experience smoothly, and your oral health is back on track. Six months down the road you might come in for a routine cleaning and exam or need a dental filling, and by then you might feel comfortable enough to do just fine with nitrous oxide.

The point is, the sedation method will be customized for your comfort and your dental needs. We will sit down with you to talk about what it will take to make you feel as relaxed as possible so you can get the treatment you need for a healthy smile!

If you’d like to learn more about our sedation options and the ways we can help you feel more comfortable, call us today at 630-473-3318 or fill out our online form. We have 4 locations to serve you in St. Charles, Elgin, South Elgin, and Sleepy Hollow, IL.
